House prices have risen more in the Okanagan than most parts of the country over the past 5 years. The region has been a big draw for those wanting to get out of the big city in Vancouver, and also for those wanting retirement and vacation homes from the prairies, Calgarians being the most common buyers. Kelowna now has the third most expensive real estate in the province behind Vancouver and Victoria, and one of the highest in the country. The average house price in Kelowna is coming in around $500,000.
