Climate

Economy
Major industries include oil and gas, agriculture, forestry, and food services. Agriculture was the first economic driver of Grande Prairie and is still an essential part of the local economy today. The Peace Region is the northernmost major farming region in North America.
Forestry is a major part of Grande Prairie's economy. The Weyerhaeuser Canada pulp mill is one of Grande Prairie's largest employers. Canfor operates a saw mill and lumber yard operation in town as well.
